Ross Hoek Finishes the Season Strong

October 2, 2017

Best PRO-4×4 Season of Career

Holland, MI (Sept. 29, 2017) – The final weekend of the TORC Series presented by AMSOIL at Elk River Motor Park saw the best weekend performance of Ross Hoek’s PRO-4×4 career. The privateer PRO driver drove the #10 Ross Hoek Motorsports, Maxxis Tire, Auto Trans Design PRO-4×4 with consistent speed as he was in contention for a podium finish during all three rounds of racing. The strong effort capped off the season where the silver hot rod was a topic in every race broadcast.

The season began with a fourth place finish in Round 2 in Chicagoland after not making the start in the opening round of the season. Just missing the podium during the first weekend of the season was the first glimpse that Ross Hoek Motorsports had really stepped up its effort.

During the first trip to ERX (Elk River Motor Park) the team struggled in Round 5 getting the truck to corner, but before the crew could test their chassis changes for the Sunday race, severe weather caused the postponement of Round 4.

The first stop to Crandon really got the attention of the short-course world. Ross Hoek would win the land rush start drag race for both rounds and would also challenge for a podium finish. The effort from the RHM, Maxxis Tire, Auto Trans Design, PRO-4×4 earned the team the Bad Mofo Award!

At Bark River, once again Hoek led early as his silver PRO-4×4 was really set-up to handle the very fast yet technical layout. Unfortunately contact both days prevented Hoek from finishes that showed the true capability of his team at the toughest track on the TORC Tour. The return to Red Bud MX in Buchanan, Michigan saw Ross Hoek stand on the podium in third place for the first time this season. The track, which is only one hour south of his home town, had what seemed like hundreds of friends and family on hand to enjoy the celebration.

The return to Crandon for the traditional Labor Weekend event saw only one TORC round of racing. Similar to the Spring run, the Goodwin Competition horsepower and the Auto Trans Design transmission once again saw the #10 PRO-4×4 win the land rush sprint to the first corner. After battling with the division’s front runners and visibility problems Hoek settled for a sixth place finish.

The final weekend of the 2017 TORC Series was hosted by ERX. The three days of racing included the postponed Round 4 as well as the scheduled Round 12 and 13. Each round saw the “Silver Bullet” PRO-4×4 battling for a podium spot during all three rounds. Ultimately finishing fifth on Friday and fourth on Saturday as well as Sunday.

“Over the winter we cut the back half of the truck off and had Johnny Greaves rebuild the rear suspension,” noted Ross Hoek. “It really made a big difference the moment I drove the truck. The improvement in the truck’s handling is just unreal. We also had Goodwin Competition build a very stout powerplant. Then we continued with improvements to the automatic transmission from Auto Trans Design. The combination is really fast. Now the driver needs more seat time between races to really get this hot rod performing its best. Getting more test time will definitely be the focus for the 2018 season. By next spring we should really have something for the competition.”
