Kleiman Brother Take the Weekend at Bark River Kyle Wins Saturday – Cody Wins on Sunday
The TORC weekend at Bark River for the “Throw Down in the UP” would be a time that all fans of TORC short-course off-road racing will remember. Kleiman Off-Road Racing the Wilson, Michigan based team has a huge fan base when it races at its hometown track and the team’s supporters were not disappointed as Kyle and Cody would both stand on the top spot on the podium before the weekend was over.
The practice sessions saw the familiar yellow and black Ponsse Maxxis PRO-Lights turning some of the fastest laps in the class. Thanks to the points inversion, Cody Kleiman was lined up in row two as younger brother Kyle was positioned just one row back.
Before the racing program went into motion, the family’s youngest member Kyndra, had the honor to sing the National Anthem during opening ceremonies.
The start of Saturday’s Round 7 was definitely the Kleiman Show. During the opening lap Cody moved into the top spot and one lap later brother Kyle was next in line. The battle was intense as the family members raced door to door. Then just before the yellow and red mandatory caution flags came out, Kyle made a clean pass the take the top spot.
When the race went back to green, Kyle completed the day in the top spot as Cody was next in line in second place. This was Kyle fifth win in a row and the first time the Kleiman brothers finished 1-2 at a TORC event.
The one-two finish saw the home town crowd go crazy. After a quick celebration the team went to work preparing for Sunday’s late afternoon showdown. Before the team wrapped up everything up for the night, team manager Mark Kleiman arranged to have PRO UTV racer Brad Seavers race the team’s back-up truck affectionately known as “Box Car.’ This would be the seasoned UTV/Modified Dirt Racer’s first time behind the wheel of a short-course off-road truck.
The start of Round 8 had Cody Kleiman in the front row as PRO-Light points leader Kyle Kleiman was lined up in row three. The start saw Cody in close fight with Rayford for the top spot. Then as the field headed for the mandatory caution, Cody drove the #48 Ponsse Maxxis Tire Pro-Light around Rayford to take the lead. A lap before Cody took the lead, Kyle was making a move for the third position when a tie rod broke ending the weekend for the younger Kleiman.
When the racing resumed, Cody opened up a slight lead and held the top spot all the way to the checkered flag. The victory for Cody Kleiman was the first of his PRO-Light career.
In his first truck race, Brad Seavers ran a very respectable race finishing fifth in the
#44 Ponsee Maxxis Tire truck.

With Kyle winning yesterday it just can’t get any better than this.”
After Round 8 of the TORC Series presented by AMSOIL, Kyle and Cody Kleiman are currently first and second in the chase for the PRO-Light Championship.
