Ruppel Back to Back Podiums at Crandon

Ruppel Back to Back Podiums at Crandon

Eric Ruppel piloted the #37 Maxxis Tire/Petit Development/Chetek Off-Road PRO-2WD hot rod to a pair of podium finishes during the TORC Big House Brawl Weekend at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway. The performance from the former Sportsman Super Truck racer continues to impress not only the fans, but the competition as well.

Ruppel has had an up and down season during the early portion of the TORC Series presented by AMSOIL season. After winning the season opener, the bold blue truck experienced incidents in the next two rounds that prevented a strong finish from the former Sportsman Multi-Time Champion. The 1-3/4 mile Crandon “Big House” course would be the spot Eric and his crew would look to for redemption.

Saturday Morning saw the PRO-2WD three lap qualifying session take place, with the #37 Maxxis PRO-2WD stopping the timers seventh fastest. This would put Ruppel right in the middle of the land rush start for the afternoon’s nine lap Round 5 feature.

Round 5 saw Ruppel in an early fight with Mitch Dorr, but eventually took command of the third position and held it all the way to the checkered flag.

Sunday’s Round 6 saw Ruppel in a close late race battle for the second position late, but came up a little short and settled for another well-deserved third place finish.

“I’m happy with our overall results this weekend,” remarked Eric Ruppel. “I was really working hard to catch Mark (Peterson). We had close lap times all race, but it wasn’t in the cards. We have to work on a couple of things before Bark River, but I know we can keep this hot rod on the podium here on out. Again thanks goes to my wife, Kramer. Aaron from Maxxis and everyone that helps out at the track. Our group has fun at the track, bur we take our racing very seriously. I had a taste of winning first time out this year, and now we want to do it again.”
